"Baring Our Soles"
Rev. Lauren Levwood
Have you ever danced barefoot in the rain? Taken off your sandals to enjoy a sandy beach? Tucked away your boots to let the grass tickle your toes? Slipped off your socks to let your feet feel the breeze? If so, how did it feel? Freeing? Maybe even slightly magical?
If you’ve ever seen a baby tug off their socks, fought with a child to keep their shoes on at a playground, or been overcome with the desire to dip your bare toes into a running stream, this service is for you!
While wearing shoes can be helpful or even necessary for certain bodies or activities, it can also be quite liberating to free our tootsies and wiggle our toes. This service will celebrate the part of our bodies that roots us to Earth. Our feet can serve as a source of alignment and support; they have the capacity to be both grounding and energizing.
Come enjoy a fun and unusual service - while shoes are allowed, you just might be inspired to bare your soles!
Note: A barefoot ritual will take place in the grassy area following our regular Sunday service, for all who’d like to participate.
