Audio-Visual Technician (Part-Time)
We are looking for a reliable, tech-savvy Audio-Visual Technician to join our team at UU Shenandoah! This role is essential in delivering a seamless worship experience for both our in-person congregation and our online community. Job Details
- Status: Part-time (Hourly), unbenefited
- Schedule: 3–4 Sundays per month (Flexible scheduling available). Services run 11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.; must be available before, during and after services (approximately 4 hours/week). Occasional availability for special events and memorials. Additional hourly remote work possible according to the candidate’s interest and experience.
- Start Date: April or May 2026
- Pay: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience, $17-$30/hour, depending on qualifications

Core Responsibilities
You will be the "pilot" of our Sunday morning services, managing the following:
- Hybrid Service Management: Running the technology that connects our physical sanctuary with our digital live stream.
- Multi-System Operation: Operating multiple computers (simultaneously managing slides, stream software, and recording).
- Audio/Visual Control: Managing the soundboard/mixer and ensuring clear audio for the room and the stream.
- Display Management: Controlling the sanctuary televisions, cameras, and digital displays.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving minor technical glitches as they occur.
- Collaboration: Working alongside our worship volunteers and others to provide an inclusive and accessible worship experience.
- Hardware/Software Assessment: Advising on equipment and software upgrades or replacements.
Qualifications
- Cross-Platform Proficiency: High comfort level with both macOS and Windows is required. Additional experience with Google Workspace, Google Apps, and other web content management tools such as databases preferred.
- Technical Aptitude: You don't need to be a pro, but you should be "tech-fluent" and able to learn new software quickly.
- Experience: Prior experience with A/V systems (mixers, OBS, Zoom, etc.) is a plus, but not required. As long as you have a strong technical foundation and a willingness to learn, we’ll get you up to speed with training on our current setup.
- Requirements: Completion of a criminal background check.
