Rev. Lauren has a Masters of Divinity from Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, one of only two UU-specific seminaries. She also has Bachelors of Arts degrees in Dance and Philosophy from James Madison University in Harrisonburg. She loves working with people of all ages, and has a special heart for the eldest and youngest members of our congregations. Rev. Lauren has been serving as a minister in Virginia since 2021, and already attends local UU and Interfaith ministry groups in this region. Born in Southeastern Virginia, she is glad to be back after having lived in five other states over the last twenty years. She loves Virginia and is ready to send some roots down into our Virginian mountain soil!
In addition to her ministry experience, Rev. Lauren has a background in women's health as a massage therapist, birth and postpartum doula, and Birthing From Within childbirth mentor. She also has experience in the arts world as a professional modern dancer, dance teacher, and choreographer. This background influences her love of Embodied Spiritual Practice, which is a special part of her ministry.
