We are UUs - a short video
Unitarian Universalism

Unitarian Universalism is a living tradition. We ask you to bring your whole self: your full identity, your questioning mind, your expansive heart. We appreciate that there is more than one way of experiencing the world and understanding the sacred.

History

Our Christian roots extend back to Unitarianism, which emerged as a denomination in Eastern Europe during the Protestant Reformation of the 1500s, and was influenced by its Muslim and Jewish neighbors. Religious dissenters who fled Europe in the earliest days of the English colonies in North America formed the Universalist denomination. These liberal religions merged in 1961.

Today

Our faith has evolved to become a fully progressive community of spiritual seekers. Unitarian Universalists do not share a creed, but are unified by our shared search for spiritual growth, and a free and responsible search for truth and meaning.

UUs uphold a deep regard for intellectual freedom and inclusive love. We seek inspiration in and derive spiritual practices from world religions, as well as humanist teachings upholding reason and science, direct mystery and earth loving traditions.

We welcome all faith expressions and those with no faith. The theology of individual Unitarian Universalists ranges widely, including Humanism, Atheism, Agnosticism, Pantheism, Deism, Christianity, Feminism, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Paganism, Buddhism, and many more.
