Families

If you are visiting on a Sunday morning, your children are welcome to remain with you or partake in any of our activities.

At UU Shenandoah, we believe faith formation is a journey the whole family can take together, and we've built our Sunday mornings to welcome every age, every wiggle, and every question along the way. As we rebuild and reimagine our Youth Faith programs this year, here's what you can expect:

• Fidget bags: Little ones don't have to sit still to belong. Our fidget bags are filled with toys and quiet activities so the youngest members of our community can stay happily engaged right alongside their families during the service.
• Family viewing room: Sometimes kids need room to roam, and that's more than okay. Our family viewing room gives families a comfortable, no-pressure space to take in the service together, with plenty of room for little ones to move and explore.
• Service for All Ages: Some Sundays, we come together across generations for a "Service for All Ages”.  These services are joyful and music-filled with a shorter message that speaks to hearts young and old alike. Whether you're bringing kids or coming solo, everyone is genuinely welcome here.
• Time for All Ages: Most Sundays include a "Time for All Ages" - a short, heartfelt message, often a story, poem, or book excerpt that is shared by a member of our congregation and crafted especially for our younger listeners. It's just a few minutes long, but it always leaves an impression.
• Sunday Faith Development class: After sharing the first part of the service together in the Sanctuary, our youth and children head off with our Youth Faith Development teachers and volunteers for a class of their own - a space to learn, ask questions, and grow in their own way.
