"Sentience Surrounds Us: A Blessing of the Animals"
Rev. Lauren Levwood
Human beings often believe our emotions and intelligence uniquely sets us apart from nature, yet this could not be further from the truth. In fact, it is because we are of part of nature that we are able to think and feel. The natural world is alive, vibrant, and buzzing with multiple intelligences - some of them different or beyond our human capabilities. Science confirms what ancient wisdom already knew: Earth is full of creatures who are both sentient (capable of deep feeling) and sapient (capable of complex thinking). Come join us for a "Blessing of the Animals" service that celebrates the sentience (and sapience) that surrounds us, in loving memory of Dr. Jane Goodall.
Do you have a special creature in your life who you'd like to offer a blessing?
Well-behaved pets who are capable of sitting quietly are invited to accompany their humans to our "Blessing of the Animals" worship service this Sunday, April 12th.
You may also choose to bring a memento of your animal companions, such as a photo, lock of hair, toy, or collar.
Rev. Lauren Levwood and veterinarian Dr. Jane Laura Doyle will co-lead the blessing for our beloved animal friends.
