Visiting

We extend a warm welcome to visitors and newcomers. You are encouraged to join us after the service for coffee and conversation. Please sign our guest book to help us get to know you and, if you wish, to begin receiving our newsletter.

Our church, like more than 1,000 member societies, is affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association of North America.

The heart of Unitarian Universalism is love, service and community. Nurtured by the congregation, each of us is free to find our own path to wisdom, understanding, and spiritual growth.

The people of our congregation come from a variety of religious backgrounds, are of all ages, live in several communities, and have many interests. We share in a love of music, an appreciation of humor, and a desire to preserve our diversity by respecting each other's beliefs.

Mission Statement

Ours is a welcoming church - a sanctuary and a beacon - where with love and mutual support we encourage one another in our spiritual journeys. With open hearts and minds we rejoice in our diversity and are its beneficiaries. We strive to provide an environment and program which, along with visionary leadership, shared ministry, and effective organizational structure, address the intellectual, emotional, aesthetic and spiritual needs of people of all ages. Our church is a shining presence of dynamic liberal religion in the community, dedicated to social justice and active in its pursuit.

Our Worship

The hour-long Sunday Services begin at 9:00 and 11:00 am and usually include music, readings, a children's time, meditation and a sermon. (Summer Schedule: Between June 3 and September 2, one Sunday service will be held, at 11 am. Religious education classes and the 9 am service will resume on September 9.) Our dress is casual. Coffee and fellowship are offered following each service.

At the start of each service we light our Chalice, the symbol of our Unitarian Universalist faith.

Although each service is unique, there is an Order of Service for you to follow.

Within services, we share as a community:

• Holidays in the Judeo-Christian church year and reflections on the celebrations of other religious traditions
• Readings and meditations drawn from sources of wisdom and inspiration from many spiritual traditions and times

The lighting of Candles of Joy and Concern are a living tradition in our congregation. This is a time we set aside for the sharing of our lives. It is a covenant we have made to one another: to sustain, support, encourage and love one another. If you have a joy or concern you would like to share you are welcome to come forward and light a candle.

Music is considered one of the most inspiring parts of our services. An Adult Choir provides music for most services. The choir is open to anyone who enjoys singing and if you are interested, the Choir rehearses on Wednesday at 7:30 PM in the sanctuary.

Once each month and during July and August our Sunday worship is lay-led. This provides an opportunity for members of the congregation to create their own worship service and share their ideas or passions.

Where do my children go?

Children leave for the Religious Education program mid-way through the service. There is no religious education program in the summer.

Infants and Toddlers

For parents with infants and toddlers, our nursery located right next to the sanctuary is available during the Sunday morning service and opens 15 minutes before the service. It is a welcoming place where a paid nursery attendant and volunteers provide play opportunities in a nurturing environment.

Kindergarten through Senior High

Religious education classes for kindergarten through high school aged children are held at 11 a.m. concurrent with the worship service. All children are in the service for the first 20 minutes.
